We are Cahill & Company.

01Our story

Local guy, long story.

Chris Cahill is a West County kid out of Parkway South. He went down to SEMO for five years and came home still unable to spell Cape Girardeau. He has been playing St. Louis ever since, and doing it for money since high school, which is either a career or a very long habit.

He is a self-taught singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and one of those musicians who always seems to know one more song. He will have a decent run at the ones he does not. But the trick is simpler: Chris reads the room. The catalog runs from the ’50s through the early 2000s across rock, country, pop, Motown, folk and R&B, with originals and a handful of newer songs mixed in.

Most Cahill & Co. gigs start from an acoustic sensibility and land somewhere between three and five pieces, depending on the stage and how much of it we are allowed to fill. Mostly bars and private parties, plus weddings, corporate events, patios and festivals through the summer, the occasional church picnic, and a college crowd on a Wednesday where we are comfortably the oldest people there. The point is the same every time: play good songs, hang out with everybody and make it a fun night.

Often referred to as “The Human Jukebox”, he covers a wide array of artists such as The Beatles, Talking Heads, Johnny Cash, James Taylor, The Who, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, and even Britney Spears.

Chris also plays piano and harmonica, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Video with a minor in Music. He has made steadier use of the minor.
